It is proposed to be launched around mid-2020s and<br /> designed to reach a limiting sensitivity as good as $F_X (10-40~{\rm keV}) = 3<br /> \times 10^{-15}$~erg cm$^{-2}$ s$^{-1}$ keV$^{-1}$ within 1~Ms. This number is<br /> one order of magnitude better than current best one. X-ray Astronomy Recovery Mission (XARM) scheduled to be launched in early 2020&#039;s carries two soft X-ray telescopes. One is Resolve consisting of a soft X-ray mirror and a micro calorimeter array, and the other is Soft X-ray Imaging Telescope (Xtend), a combination of an X-ray mirror assembly (XMA) and an X-ray CCD camera (SXI). Xtend covers a field of view (FOV) of 38′ × 38′, much larger than that of Resolve (3′ × 3 ′) with moderate energy resolution in the energy band from 0.4 keV to 13 keV, which is similar to that of Resolve (from 0.3 keV to 12 keV). Simultaneous observations of both telescopes provide complimentary data of X-ray sources in their FOV. In particular, monitoring X-ray sources outside the Resolve FOV but inside the Xtend FOV is important to enhance the reliability of super high resolution spectra obtained with Resolve. Xtend is also expected to be one of the best instruments for low surface brightness X-ray emissions with its low non X-ray background level, which is comparable to that of Suzaku XIS. The design of Xtend is almost identical to those of Soft X-ray Telescope (SXT) and Soft X-ray Imager (SXI) both on board the Hitomi satellite. However, several mandatory updates are included. Updates for the CCD chips are verified with experiment using test CCD chips before finalizing the design of the flight model CCD. Fabrication of the foils for XMA has started, and flight model production of the SXI is almost ready.
  • X-ray Measurements of the Particle Acceleration Properties at Inward Shocks in Cassiopeia A, Toshiki Sato, Satoru Katsuda, Mikio Morii, Aya Bamba, John, P. Hughes, Yoshitomo Maeda, Manabu Ishida, Federico Fraschetti, 2017年10月, 10.3847/1538-4357/aaa021, http://arxiv.org/abs/1710.06992v2, We present new evidence that the bright non-thermal X-ray emission features<br /> in the interior of the Cassiopeia A supernova remnant (SNR) are caused by<br /> inward moving shocks based on Chandra and NuSTAR observations. Several bright<br /> inward-moving filaments were identified using monitoring data taken by Chandra<br /> in 2000-2014. These inward-moving shock locations are nearly coincident with<br /> hard X-ray (15-40 keV) hot spots seen by NuSTAR. From proper motion<br /> measurements, the transverse velocities were estimated to be in the range<br /> $\sim$2,100-3,800 km s$^{-1}$ for a distance of 3.4 kpc. The shock velocities<br /> in the frame of the expanding ejecta reach values of $\sim$5,100-8,700 km<br /> s$^{-1}$, slightly higher than the typical speed of the forward shock.<br /> Additionally, we find flux variations (both increasing and decreasing) on<br /> timescales of a few years in some of the inward-moving shock filaments. The<br /> rapid variability timescales are consistent with an amplified magnetic field of<br /> $B \sim$ 0.5-1 mG. The high speed and low photon cut-off energy of the<br /> inward-moving shocks are shown to imply a particle diffusion coefficient that<br /> departs from the Bohm regime ($k_0 = D_0/D_{\rm 0,Bohm} \sim$ 3-8) for the few<br /> simple physical configurations we consider in this study. The maximum electron<br /> energy at these shocks is estimated to be $\sim$8-11 TeV, smaller than the<br /> values of $\sim$15-34 TeV inferred for the forward shock. Cassiopeia A is<br /> dynamically too young for its reverse shock to appear to be moving inward in<br /> the observer frame. We propose instead that the inward-moving shocks are a<br /> consequence of the forward shock encountering a density jump of $\gtrsim$ 5-8<br /> in the surrounding material.
  • X-ray Spectroscopy of the Mixed Morphology Supernova Remnant W28 with XMM-Newton, Ryoko Nakamura, Aya Bamba, Manabu Ishida, Ryo Yamazaki, Ken'ichi Tatematsu, Kazunori Kohri, Gerd P\" uhlhofer{7}, Stefan J. Wagner{8}, Makoto Sawada{2}, PUBLICATIONS OF THE ASTRONOMICAL SOCIETY OF JAPAN, OXFORD UNIV PRESS, PUBLICATIONS OF THE ASTRONOMICAL SOCIETY OF JAPAN, 66, 3, 2014年02月, 0004-6264, 10.1093/pasj/psu031, http://arxiv.org/abs/1402.0603v1, We report on spatially resolved X-ray spectroscopy of the north-eastern part of the mixed morphology supernova remnant (SNR) W28 with {\it XMM-Newton}. The observed field of view includes a prominent and twisted shell emission forming the edge of this SNR as well as part of the center-filled X-ray emission brightening toward the south-west edge of the field of view. The shell region spectra are in general represented by an optically thin thermal plasma emission in collisional ionization equilibrium with a temperature of $\sim$0.3~keV and a density of $\sim$10~cm$^{-3}$, which is much higher than the density obtained for inner parts. In contrast, we detected no significant X-ray flux from one of the TeV $\gamma$-ray peaks with an upper-limit flux of 2.1$\times$10$^{-14}$ erg cm$^{-2}$ s$^{-1}$ in the 2--10~keV band. The large flux ratio of TeV to X-ray, larger than 16, and the spatial coincidence of the molecular cloud and the TeV $\gamma$-ray emission site indicate that the TeV $\gamma$-ray of W28 is $\pi^{0}$-decay emission originating from collisions between accelerated protons and molecular cloud protons. Comparing the spectrum in the TeV band and the X-ray upper limit, we obtained a weak upper limit on the magnetic field strength $B\lesssim$ 1500~$\mu$G.
  • Progenitor type identification for supernova remnant N103B in the Large Magellanic Cloud by Suzaku and Chandra observations, Kentaro Someya, Aya Bamba, Manabu Ishida, PUBLICATIONS OF THE ASTRONOMICAL SOCIETY OF JAPAN, OXFORD UNIV PRESS, PUBLICATIONS OF THE ASTRONOMICAL SOCIETY OF JAPAN, 66, 1, 2014年02月, 0004-6264, 10.1093/pasj/pst027, http://arxiv.org/abs/1310.4244v1, This paper presents a detailed analysis of supernova remnant (SNR) N103B located in the Large Magellanic Cloud (LMC), based on Suzaku and Chandra observations. The spectrum of the entire remnant was closely reproduced by using three interstellar medium (ISM) components with temperatures of similar to 0.32, similar to 0.56, and similar to 0.92 keV and one ejecta component with similar to 3.96 keV, based on a spectral analysis of the Suzaku/X-ray Imaging Spectrometer (XIS) data. The ejecta was overabundant in heavy elements, such as Mg, Si, S, Ca, Fe, and Ni. The unprecedentedly high quality of data obtained with Suzaku/XIS allowed us to correctly distinguish between two emissions from the ISM and the ejecta for the first time in a spectral analysis. Combining the spectral analysis of XIS data with the image analysis based on Chandra/Advanced CCD Imaging Spectrometer (ACIS) data, we verified that the ejecta distributions for elements from Si to Fe-K were similar to one another, although the Fe-K emission was located slightly inward compared with that of the lighter elements such as Si, S, Ar, and Ca. We compared hydrogen-rich ejecta plasma (called &quot;H-dominated plasma&quot;), which is indicative of Type la SNRs, with plasma rich in heavy elements and poor in hydrogen (called &quot;pure metal plasma&quot;) mainly observed in Type la SNRs. High-energy continuum images in the 5.2-6.0 keV band obtained with ACIS were extremely similar to those of the ejecta, implying that the origin of the high-energy continuum might indeed be the ejecta. By combining spectral analyses and high-energy continuum images, we found some indications for H-dominated plasma, and showed, that the progenitor of N103B might have been a Type II supernova. The progenitor mass was estimated to be 13 M-circle dot based on the abundance patterns of Mg, Fe, and Ni relative to Si.

Among the onboard instruments there are four Wolter-I X-ray mirrors of their reflectors' figure in conical approximation. Two of the four are soft X-ray mirrors(1), of which the energy range is from a few hundred eV to 15 keV within the effective aperture being defined by the nested reflectors' radius ranging between 5.8 cm to 22.5 cm. The focal point instruments will be a calorimeter (SXS) and a CCD camera (SXI), respectively. The mirrors were in quadrant configuration with photons being reflected consecutively in the primary and secondary stage before converging on the focal plane of 5.6 m away from the interface between the two stages. The reflectors of the mirror are made of heat-formed aluminum substrate of the thickness gauged of 152 mu m, 229 mu m, and 305 mu m of the alloy 5052 H-19, followed by epoxy replication on gold-sputtered smooth Pyrex cylindrical mandrels to acquire the X-ray reflective surface. The epoxy layer is 10 mu m nominal and surface gold layer of 0.2 mu m. Improvements on angular response over its predecessors, e.g. Astro-E1/Suzaku mirrors, come from error reduction on the figure, the roundness, and the grazing angle/radius mismatching of the reflecting surface, and tighter specs and mechanical strength on supporting structure to reduce the reflector positioning and the assembly errors. Each soft x-ray telescope (SXT), SXT-1 or SXT-2, were integrated from four independent quadrants of mirrors. The stray-light baffles, in quadrant configuration, were mounted onto the integrated mirror. Thermal control units were attached to the perimeter of the integrated mirror to keep the mirror within operating temperature in space. The completed instrument went through a series of optical alignment, thus made the quadrant images confocal and their optical axes in parallel to achieve highest throughput possible. Environmental tests were carried out, and optical quality of the telescopes has been confirmed. SXT-1 and -2 were tested with the broad but slightly divergent beam, up to 8 arc-minutes, at Goddard. The full characterization were carried out in Japan which includes: angular resolution, effective area in the energy range of similar to 0.4 - 12keV, off-axis response at various energies, etc. We report the calibration results of the SXT-1 and -2 that were obtained at NASA/Goddard and JAXA/ISAS. The detailed calibration are reported in the two papers in this conference: 9144-206, &quot;Ground-based x-ray calibration of the ASTRO-H soft x-ray telescopes&quot; by R. Iizuka et al. and 9144-207, &quot;Revealing a detailed performance of the soft x-ray telescopes of the ASTRO-H mission&quot; by T. Sato, et al. Some small but significant discrepancies existed between ISAS and Goddard measurements that were attributed to the difference of the X-ray beams - pencil beam vs divergent beam.

  • Evolution of Synchrotron X-rays in Supernova Remnants, Ryoko Nakamura, Aya Bamba, Tadayasu Dotani, Manabu Ishida, Ryo Yamazaki, Kazunori Kohri, 2011年12月, 10.1088/0004-637X/746/2/134, http://arxiv.org/abs/1112.0822v1, A systematic study of the synchrotron X-ray emission from supernova remnants (SNRs) has been conducted. We selected a total of 12 SNRs whose synchrotron X-ray spectral parameters are available in the literature with reasonable accuracy, and studied how their luminosities change as a function of radius. It is found that the synchrotron X-ray luminosity tends to drop especially when the SNRs become larger than ~5 pc, despite large scatter. This may be explained by the change of spectral shape caused by the decrease of the synchrotron roll-off energy. A simple evolutionary model of the X-ray luminosity is proposed and is found to reproduce the observed data approximately, with reasonable model parameters. According to the model, the total energy of accelerated electrons is estimated to be 10^(47-48) ergs, which is well below the supernova explosion energy. The maximum energies of accelerated electrons and protons are also discussed.

Thanks to a superior energy resolution of the XIS in the soft X-ray band, we resolved H-like and He-like Oxygen K alpha emission lines from N23 with unprecedentedly high quality, and as a result, identified a new optically thin thermal emission component with a temperature of similar to 0.2 keV, as well as that with a temperature of similar to 0.5-0.7 keV, previously known. This alters the estimate of the ionization timescale, n(e)t, from similar to 10(10-11) cm(-3) s to greater than or similar to 10(12)cm(-3) s. Under the assumption that N23 is still in the Sedov phase, its age, evaluated from the newly discovered low-temperature component, is similar to 8000 yr, although it is possible that N23 has already moved into the radiative phase. The abundances of the heavy elements are found to be roughly consistent with those of the LMC average, which indicates that the origin of the X-ray emission of N23 is swept-up ambient material, as expected from its ionization timescale.

The characteristic age (950 yr), the magnetic field strength (5 x 10(14)G), and the spin-down luminosity (4.5 x 10(34) erg s(-1)) derived from P and (P) over dot lead us to conclude that CXOU J171405.7-381031 should be identified as a new magnetar. The obtained characteristic age indicates that CXOU J171405.7-381031 is the youngest among all known anomalous X-ray pulsars, and is consistent with the age estimated from the thermal X-rays of the associated supernova remnant. The ratio between the 2-10 keV luminosity and the spin-down luminosity is almost unity, which implies that CXOU J171405.7-381031 is the key source to connect magnetars with traditional radio pulsars.

ASTRO-H covers very wide energy range from 0.3 keV to 600 keV. ASTRO-H allows a combination of wide band X-ray spectroscopy (5-80 keV) provided by multilayer coating, focusing hard X-ray mirrors and hard X-ray imaging detectors, and high energy-resolution soft X-ray spectroscopy (0.3-12 keV) provided by thin-foil X-ray optics and a micro-calorimeter array. The mission will also carry an X-ray CCD camera as a focal plane detector for a soft X-ray telescope (0.4-12 keV) and a non-focusing soft gamma-ray detector (40-600 keV). The micro-calorimeter system is developed by an international collaboration led by ISAS/JAXA and NASA. The simultaneous broad bandpass, coupled with high spectral resolution of ΔE ~7 eV provided by the micro-calorimeter will enable a wide variety of important science themes to be pursued.

A sample wafer was deformed using hemispherical dies with a curvature radius of 1000 mm. The measured radius of the deformed wafer was 1030 mm, suggesting that further conditioning is indispensable for better shaping. For the first time to our knowledge, x-ray reflection on a deformed wafer was detected at Al K-a 1.49 keV. An estimated surface roughness of &lt;1 rim from the x-ray reflection profile was comparable to that of a bare silicon wafer without deformation.   • The Nature of a Cosmic-Ray Accelerator, CTB 37 B, Observed with Suzaku and Chandra, Ryoko Nakamura, Aya Bamba, Manabu Ishida, Hiroshi Nakajima, Ryo Yamazaki, Yukikatsu Terada, Gerd Puehlhofer, Stefan J. Cherenkov telescope. The 80 ks Suzaku observation provided us with a clear image of diffuse emission and high-quality spectra. The spectra revealed that the diffuse emission is comprised of thermal and non-thermal components. The thermal component can be represented by an NEI model with a temperature, a pre-shock electron density and an age of 0.9 +/- 0.2 keV, 0.4 +/- 0.1 cm(-3), and 650(-300)(+2500) yr, respectively. This suggests that the explosion of CTB 37 B occurred ill a low-density space. A non-thermal power-law component was found from the southern region of CTB 37 B. Its photon index of similar to 1.5 and a high roll-off energy (greater than or similar to 15 keV) indicate efficient cosmic-ray acceleration. A comparison of this X-ray spectrum with the TeV gamma-ray spectrum leads us to conclude that the TeV gamma-ray emission seems to be powered by either multi-zone Inverse Compton scattering or the decay of neutral pions. The point source resolved by Chandra near the shell is probably associated with CTB 37 B, because of the common hydrogen column density with the diffuse thermal emission. Spectral and temporal characteristics Suggest that this source is a new anomalous X-ray pulsar.

At, present NeXT is in the process of transition to the Phase-B. One of the unique freature of the mission is an imaging spectroscopy in unprecedentedly wide energy region from 0.5 to 80 keV. The X-Ray Telescope (XRT) system covers the energy by means of grazing incidence reflective optics. International collaboration has been formed for the project and design and basic study have been carried out so far. Current baseline specification includes two hard X-ray telescopes which are combined with the Hard X-ray. Imager (Si + CdTe pixel or strip) and cover 5 to 80 keV, and two soft, X-ray telescopes which cover 0.3 to about 20 keV, one combined with a high resolution X-ray micro-calorimeter and the other with an X-ray CCD. Both of hard and soft X-ray mirrors employ same optical design; tightly-nested conically-approximated thin-foil Wolter-I optics. The mission requirements for XRT system have been identified as 300 cm(2) at 30 keV for the hard X-ray telescope in total and 400 cm(2) at 6 keV for the soft X-ray telescope per unit. The requirement oil the point spread function is 1.7 arcmin in HPD, as well as the goal being 1.2 arcmin Based oil the current level of technology all the mission requirements are expected to be satisfied.

Its objectives range from high resolution imaging and spectroscopy, below similar to 12 keV to studyiug the hard X-ray sky up to similar to 70 keV. To accomplish these goals, it will carry, among other instruments, 4 grazing incidence, imaging telescopes, two covering the soft X-ray band and the remaining the higher energies. The soft X-ray telescopes will be similar to ones flown onboard Suzaku, with a larger outer diameter (45 cm) and longer focal length (6 m). The NASA's GSFC foil mirror group is collaborating with the Nagoya University and ISAS/JAXA in the implementation of the the soft, X-ray mirrors. Our science driven goal is a &lt; 1.3' Half Power Diameter (HPD) Point Spread Function, improved from Suzaku similar to 1.7' HPD. We address important area in the fabrication process where we plan to make changes; (1) substrate shaping, (2) replication process, (3) reflector assembly, (4) alignment bar accuracy and (5) focal length miss match among segments. Having done some of them, we measured 1.26' HPD for 60-pair quadrant reflectors. But it still includes bad sectors (&gt; 1.8' HPD) towards the quadrant boundary, while most of middle sectors are at 1' HPD level. The bad sectors can be corrected with new assembly approach where we actively tune and then fix reflectors at their right position or whole conical shell reflectors instead of segmented ones. In this proceeding, we present a proposed NeXT soft X-ray telescope performance, report the current status of the development and introduce the new whole shell mirror.

The optical design adopted for the NeXT XRTs is conically-approximated Wolter-I type optics. The tightly-nested reflectors with thin substrates (150-300 mu m) enable us to achieve the large effective area and extremely light weight simultaneously. However. due to the packed reflector shells, X-rays from the outside of the XRT field of view occasionally arrive at the focal plane without the, normal double reflection (stray lights), and then produce a ghost image oil the detector. Thus. the stray-fights contamination degrades sensitivity of the source detection In order to reduce the stray lights efficiently, we plan to mount a, collimator onto each telescope (referred to as pre-collimator), which is similar to that equipped with the Suzaku XRTs. The pre-collimator consists of coaxially-nested cylindrical blades. each of which is aligned radially with the corresponding primary reflector. We, found the height of the pre-collimator blade to be similar to 100 mm that is required to block the X-rays with off-axis angles of 30'-50'. which are the main light pass of the stray lights for the NeXT XRTs.
  • Suzaku Discovery of Hard X-ray Pulsations from the Rotating Magnetized White Dwarf, AE Aquarii, Yukikatsu Terada, Takayuki Hayashi, Manabu Ishida, Koji Mukai, Tadayas u Dotani, Shunsaku Okada, Ryoko Nakamura, Sachindra Naik, Aya Bamba, Kazuo Makishima, 2007年11月, 10.1093/pasj/60.2.387, http://arxiv.org/abs/0711.2716v2, The fast rotating magnetized white dwarf, AE Aquarii, was observed with<br /> Suzaku, in October 2005 and October 2006 with exposures of 53.1 and 42.4 ks,<br /> respectively. In addition to clear spin modulation in the 0.5--10 keV band of<br /> the XIS data at the barycentric period of 33.0769 \pm 0.0001 s, the 10--30 keV<br /> HXD data in the second half of the 2005 observation also showed statistically<br /> significant periodic signals at a consistent period. On that occasion, the<br /> spin-folded HXD light curve exhibited two sharp spikes separated by about 0.2<br /> cycles in phase, in contrast to approximately sinusoidal profiles observed in<br /> energies below about 4 keV. The folded 4--10 keV XIS light curves are<br /> understood as a superposition of those two types of pulse profiles. The phase<br /> averaged 1.5--10 keV spectra can be reproduced by two thermal components with<br /> temperatures of $2.90_{-0.16}^{+0.20}$ keV and $0.53_{-0.13}^{+0.14}$ keV, but<br /> the 12-25 keV HXD data show a significant excess above the extrapolated model.<br /> This excess can be explained by either a power-law model with photon index of<br /> $1.12_{-0.62}^{+0.63}$ or a third thermal component with a temperature of<br /> $54_{-47}^{+26}$ keV. At a distance of 102 pc, the 4--30 keV luminosities of<br /> the thermal and the additional components become $1.7_{-0.6}^{+1.3}$ and<br /> $5.3_{-0.3}^{+15.3} \times 10^{29}$ erg s$^{-1}$, respectively. The latter<br /> corresponds to 0.09% of the spin down energy of the object. Possible emission<br /> mechanisms of the hard pulsations are discussed, including in particular<br /> non-thermal ones.

As designed, the instrument covers the energy range 0.3 to 12keV, which encompasses the most diagnostically rich part of the X-ray band. The sensor consists of a 32-channel array of X-ray microcalorimeters, each with an energy resolution of about 6 eV. The very low temperature required for operation of the array (60 mK) is provided by a four-stage cooling system containing a single-stage adiabatic demagnetization refrigerator, a superfluid-helium cryostat, a solid-neon dewar, and a single-stage, Stirling-cycle cooler. The Suzaku/XRS is the first orbiting X-ray microcalorimeter spectrometer and was designed to last more than three years in orbit. The early verification phase of the mission demonstrated that the instrument worked properly and that the cryogen consumption rate was low enough to ensure a mission lifetime exceeding 3 years. However, the liquid-He cryogen was completely vaporized two weeks after opening the dewar guard vacuum vent. The problem has been traced to inadequate venting of the dewar He and Ne gases out of the spacecraft and into space. In this paper we present the design and ground testing of the XRS instrument, and then describe the in-flight performance. An energy resolution of 6 eV was achieved during pre-launch tests and a resolution of 7 eV was obtained in orbit. The slight degradation is due to the effects of cosmic rays. © 2007.   • Detailed XMM-Newton observation of the cluster of galaxies Abell 1060, Akira Hayakawa, Akio Hoshino, Manabu Ishida, Tae Furusho, Noriko Y. The large effective area of XMM-Newton enabled us to investigate the nature of this cluster in unprecedented detail. From the observed surface brightness distribution, we found that the gravitational mass distribution is well described by the Navarro-Frenk-White (1997, ApJ, 490, 493) profile, but with a central density slope of similar to 1.5. We undoubtedly detected a radial temperature decrease of as large as similar to 30% from the center to the outer region (r similar to 13'), which seems to be much larger than that expected from the temperature profile averaged over nearby clusters. We established that the temperature of a region similar to 7' southeast of the center is higher than the azimuthally averaged temperature of the same radius by similar to 20%. Since the pressure of this region already reaches equilibrium with the environment, the temperature structure can be interpreted as having been produced between 4 x 10(7) yr(the sound-crossing time) and 3 x 10' yr (the thermal conduction time) ago. We found that a high-metallicity blob located at similar to 1.'5 northeast of NGC 3311 is more extended, and its iron mass of 1.9 x 10(7) M-circle dot is larger by an order of magnitude than that estimated from our Chandra observation. The amount of iron can still be considered as being injected solely from the elliptical galaxy NGC 3311.
  • Study of the X-ray background spectrum and its large-scale fluctuation with ASCA, A Kushino, Y Ishisaki, U Morita, NY Yamasaki, M Ishida, T Ohashi, Y Ueda, PUBLICATIONS OF THE ASTRONOMICAL SOCIETY OF JAPAN, OXFORD UNIV PRESS, PUBLICATIONS OF THE ASTRONOMICAL SOCIETY OF JAPAN, 54, 3, 327, 352, 2002年06月, 0004-6264, 10.1093/pasj/54.3.327, http://arxiv.org/abs/astro-ph/0204224v3, We studied the energy spectrum and the large-scale fluctuation of the X-ray background with the ASCA GIS instrument based on the ASCA Medium Sensitivity Survey and Large Sky Survey observations. A total of 91 fields with Galactic latitude \b\ &gt; 10degrees were selected with a sky coverage of 50 deg(2) and 4.2 Ms of exposure. For each field, non-X-ray events were carefully subtracted and sources brighter than similar to 2 x 10-(13) erg cm(-2) s(-1) (2-10 keV) were eliminated. Spectral fits with a single power-law model for the individual 0.7-10 keV spectra showed a significant excess below similar to 2 keV, which could be expressed by an additional thermal model with kT similar or equal to 0.4 keV or a steep power-law model with a photon index of Gamma(soft) similar or equal to 6. The 0.5-2 keV intensities of the soft thermal component varied significantly from field to field by 1sigma = 52(-5)(+4%), and showed a maximum toward the Galactic Center. This component is considered to be entirely Galactic. As for the hard power-law component, an average photon index of 91 fields was obtained to be Gamma(hard) = 1.412 +/- 0.007 +/- 0.025 and the average 2-10 keV intensity was calculated as Gamma(X)(hard) = (6.38 +/- 0.04 +/- 0.64) x 10(-8) erg cm(-2) s(-1) sr(-1) (1 sigma statistical and systematic errors). The Galactic component is marginally detected in the hard band. The 2-10 keV intensities show a 1 sigma deviation of 6.49(-0.61)(+0.56%), while deviation due to the reproducibility of the particle background is 3.2%. The observed deviation can be explained by the Poisson noise of the source count in the f.o.v. (similar to 0.5 deg(2)), even assuming a single log N-log S relation on the whole sky. Based on the observed fluctuation and the absolute intensity, an acceptable region of the log N-log S relation was derived, showing a consistent feature with the recent Chandra and XMM-Nelvton results. The fluctuation of the spectral index was also examined; it implied a large amount of hard sources and a substantial variation in the intrinsic source spectra (Gamma(S) similar or equal to 1.1 +/- 1.0).
