Subject of Research

  1. Elucidation of the mechanism controls various cellular functions by mechanotransduction.2008/01/01-2020/12/31Addition to soluble bioactive substrates such as cytokines, cellular regulations mediated by physical force such as tension called mechanotransduction is also known. However, despite its importance and advances in molecular mechanisms of soluble factors, the progresses of study for mechanotransduction is historically and technologically not enough. We are studying the entity of cellular regulations mediated by physical force focusing on metabolic change as well as gene expression regulation as read out.
  2. Prevention of cancer metastasis focusing on the premetastatic niche formation2012/04/01-2020/12/31Premetastatic niche is known as a critical phenomena for cancer metastasis which act to cultivate metastatic target organ precede to the arrival of cancer cell to the target. We have found factors participate in this step, and furthermore, have confirmed that the factors really act in human cancer metastasis as risk factors. Now we are on the way to utilize these factors for diagnostic as well as therapeutic target.
  3. Control of neuroinflammation by focusing on a transcription factor Nrf2.2019/12/01-2020/12/31Aberrant neuroinflammation is known to participate in various neurodegenerative diseases. Cellular entities for this inflammation are microglia and bone marrow derived cells. Nrf2 is known as a cellular protective transcription factor which induces cells into anti-oxidant as well as anti inflammatory. The aim of this project is to control the neuroinflammation by regulating Nrf2.
